What a weekend!

This weekend, we went to Raleigh to visit my parents. While there, we took delivery on our new-to-us station wagon! When Chad drove to the stake youth activity, I still had a car! When Chad went to his meetings before church, the kids and I stayed home and drove ourselves to church later! When he goes to work tomorrow morning, I don't have to take him so that I can have a car! No waking of sleeping babies! Hallelujah! I know that's a lot of exclamation points, but I'm really, really, really excited to *finally* have a second car. And it's a really nice car in really good condition. Yea!

We also were able to spend time with Grandma and Grandpa Henderson (my parents) while in Raleigh. And Nathan loved it. He helped them clean up, swung on the swings, wore their shoes around, and generally had a blast. He also learned how to say Grandpa and calls Grandma "Ma." Since we've been home, he keeps asking, "Where's Grandpa? Where's Ma?" He misses his new friends already, and he can't wait to see Grandma and Grandpa Reese in a week and a half.

Adding to the good news, Emily has started smiling! I love when they finally start to smile and give you some feedback that they're actually happy and not just not sad. Plus, it's just so darned cute. Emily may also have turned a corner this week, sleeping through the night for four nights in a row now. She's starting to make progress towards taking daytime naps in her crib, and not just when she's held or in her Baby Bjorn. She is already a great eater and not fussy other than evenings, so once we master sleep, life will be good around here. Let's hear it for second cars, grandparents, sleep, and smiles! What a great weekend!

Yea for sleeping! I really think that is the cure for most things. Maybe that is why she has started smiling. I bet it is cute. I love it when they first start smiling, because I need the encouragement.
