Family Home Evening

Our church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, encourages families to set aside one night a week as Family Home Evening, an evening to spend together learning about the gospel and eating tasty treats. Chad and I have been having FHE on our own for a while now, but after this recent General Conference, we felt that we needed to start including Nathan and Emily in FHE. So, last night we got out our Book of Mormon board book and read Nathan a few stories and had our tasty treat.

And that's when things got fun. Emily decided to fill her diaper so much that it leaked all over Chad, with Nathan cheerfully announcing "poopy!" after every drop off. And Nathan decided that he needed to wipe his mouth off with the back of his hand after every spoonful of chocolate pudding and consequently getting pudding all over his new pajamas with cars on them. So Emily and Chad both needed clean clothes and Nathan needed a complete wipe down after our first FHE. I was reminded of the General Authority who described his own Family Home Evenings as a howling success, with perhaps more howling than success. I'm excited for next week's command performance!

Thanks for a good laugh. The disasters always make for good future stories.

So, the tradition of plus/minus FHE's continues in to our offspring...

In all seriousness, it's like the quality time/quantity time concept. If you don't hold them, you'll never have any good ones, and I think there are blessings for even having the "fun" ones.

Grandpa Henderson (OK, that sounds wierd)
