Nathan, the clean one

Earlier this week, an item I've been unrighteously coveting for quite some time was delivered - my new Maclaren Twin Techno stroller :) Due to the eagle eye of my sister and a well-timed eBay sale, I was able to get last year's model of the really nice double stroller for less than the price of the not-as-nice double stroller. Can you say I'm more than a little excited???

The stroller came Monday afternoon, and during Nathan's afternoon nap, I put it all together and played around with it. Feeling lazy, I didn't quite get around to cleaning up all the plastic wrapping, tissue paper, etc. That evening, Nathan decided he couldn't quite handle all the mess lying around, so HE started tidying up, collecting all the trash into one neat pile. Then, his dad told him to throw it away, not anticipating that he'd actually do anything with the trash. Nathan walked right over to the trash can and did his best to throw it away.

Chad and I were so surprised and impressed that we clapped and praised him for cleaning up. Now the problem is that Nathan doesn't quite understand what's okay to throw away and what's not. So far, lint from the dryer - okay. Random crumbs on the floor - okay. Unopened package of Ramen noodle - not okay. Blocks - not okay. We're still finetuning the list for Nathan, but he's loving being a clean and tidy little boy. Is it too much to hope that this lasts through the teenage years???

Kathleen is very eager to throw things away, also; she waits around for Sophia's dirty diapers while I'm changing Sophia, and then throws them away. When she first learned about throwing things away, I found quite a few non-trash items in various places. One morning I asked her where her hair clip was. She pointed to her diaper pail where I found it - and a shirt and toy also.

That is awesome. Lizzie loves to throw things away also, she just gets confused between the cloths hamper and the garbage can. Kids sure make life interesting!
