Counting down

I'm often guilty of counting down - the end of the school year when I taught, the end of dental school for Chad, major holidays, the upcoming arrival of babies, etc. I always knew how many days were left in the school year, how many days until my birthday, how many weeks until Nathan was born, how many weeks until New Baby comes, when our next vacation is, and so on. I also love summer and being warm. The pool, the beach, picnics, fresh fruit, shorts, flipflops - summer is amazing.

I realized earlier this week, though, that I have been counting away my summer. Summer is already almost halfway over, and I'm missing it counting down towards other things - my birthday earlier this week, our annual Beach Week in August, getting a new car, and New Baby's arrival, among other things. I need to put away my mental calendar and get out the swimsuit and sunscreen while I still can. Summer's too short to spend it waiting for other events to happen - they'll come soon enough on their own. So maybe it's time for a trip to the pool tomorrow...

I definitely know what you mean - I feel that way about this summer as well. It's halfway over, and I feel sort of relief and a lot of sadness about it as well (since you know, Oregon is SUCH a fun place in the winter. . .) If you find a solution, let me know.

Don't say that summer is half over. I am really not ready for another winter yet!

Now that I've finally figured out how to sign it, you get to hear from Mom. I with you on summer. I love summer, the heat, the humidity, the fireflies. I think I need to go to the pool tomorrow!!
