Nathan, however, had decided that the ocean and the 1-2' waves were scary and not good and so spent most of our visit crying. He tried to crawl or walk with my finger as far away from the water as we would let him go. Whenever we brought him close to the water, the crying intensified. The only truly happy moments involved the consumption of several peanut butter cookies. This is what he looked like for most of our trip.
Hoping that it was just a beach phobia and not a general water phobia (this kid *loves* baths - all bodies of water are called "ba!" meaning bath), we took him to our neighborhood pool Monday night. He loved the pool. He loved being tossed between mom and dad, he loved playing with the leaf he found, he loved everything about the pool. When we went back on Tuesday, he loved it again. At every diaper change since, he excited asks, "Ba? Ba?", wondering if we're going to the pool again. And he gets quite disappointed to be told no. No worries, Nathan, we're going to the pool this afternoon :)

I think I'm a terrible person, because that picture just makes me want to laugh. (In fact, I just did!) I think with a proper nap he'll like it much more next time. :)
That is the saddest picture of Nathan. Those cheeks just accentuate his sadness too. Poor baby, Well I hope you guys had fun at least.
What will you do if your child doesn't love the beach?! I don't know anyone that loves the beach as much as you. Hopefully this was an isolated nap-related incident.
