One of my favorite things about Christmas is the Christmas tree. My roommate my junior year of college and I had our first Christmas tree in our dorm room on West Campus, totally against fire code for old buildings like that. It also involved our first usage of power tools, but that is an entirely different story. I still have a piece of Luke's trunk from that year.
Every year since then, I've had a Christmas tree, making this year's tree my tenth since leaving home. Since getting married and having children, Christmas has become even more fun, and we've had a great season so far this year. But there was one thing missing. Every year, usually the night the tree gets put up, I love to turn off all the other lights in the house, plug the tree in, and put Nat King Cole's "The Christmas Song" on repeat. For hours at a time. Something about looking at the tree all lit up and listening to my *favorite* Christmas song takes me back to being a little kid and reminds me of the magic of Christmas. I hadn't gotten around to it yet this season until last night. While both kids and Chad were sleeping, I turned off all the lights but those on the tree and turned up the music. Now, I'm ready for Christmas :)
